    Default newbie question

    my engine management light has come on and iv noticed a loss in power any ideas?
    vectra c 1.9 sri ctdi estate 78k 08plate
    quality site iv been looking around here for a while now and its one of the best forums iv been on..

    The lack of power with the Engine Management Light on is known as "Limp Mode". Basically, the power / rev range is reduced by the ECU when a fault is detected.

    If you know anyone with a fault code reader, try and get 'em read. Will point you in the right direction

    Yup they can all put light on you really need ringer the codes read

    From my own experience, I wouldn't mind betting it will be DPF related, but you never know!!

    Sounds awefully like a DPF blockage, it has been seen several times on the estate 1.9 cdti's. Best course of action is firstly to remove and back jetwash the dpf then refit and see if it improves anything.

    Is that code not "swirl actuator" related, I'm sure I got that when I tried the £1 fix.

    After re-fitting the swirl rod and going for a run, I seem to remember getting EML (not car/spanner) along with the 2279 code.
