Is there anybody out there who is a disabled driver..??

I know its a bit of a strange question but being a diabled driver myself it would be nice to think i`m not the only one out there........

I'll ask my mate who hade a peg taken off due to gangrene a few yrs back, might take a week though.

Personally, and I hope I never have need to prove it, I would say you adapt and eventually dont notice any difference.

well my dad just got a brand new car, does not pay tax and generally gets to park where he likes lol

he has arthritis in his knee and wrist which can cause him problems particularly with the scottish weather.

My father is a disabled driver. He has emphysema (only third of both lungs left) due to smoking, and has no problems. Parking is no problem obviously with his badge.

    Hi Batesie..

No you're not alone, I drive with hand controls because of a spinal injury after a car I was a passenger in crashed, I've been driving with the controls for 14 years, when I first started I had the whole lot as I cant use the peddles at all, all I have now is a push / pull control fitted to the right hand side of the steering wheel, pull to accelerate and push to brake, it's connected to the foot peddles directly.

I got used to them quite quickly, the main way it affects me is obviously turning as I'm using only one hand if i'm either braking or accelerating, so I usually take it quite easy round roundabouts and in tight turns, I drove nearly 3000 miles round Europe in 8 days a couple of years ago, including going through the Alps, twice, that was a lot of fun but boy did my shoulders ache for days when I got home!
