Default Bit Of A Surprise With My New Tyres

Needed new tyres for the front yesterday and fitted Uniroyal Rainsports. Definitely better grip and seem a bit quieter than the original Goodyears.

I was taken a bit by surprise tonight though as I nipped round a damp roundabout enjoying the better grip on the front when the rear decided to try to overtake me on the outrside. A few exciting moments followed as I strightened things up again!

So it seems that the Goodyears on the back are nowhere near keeping up with the Uniroyals even though they've still got a good 5mm of tread left! Guess I'll need to be a bit careful on greasy roads.

lol sounds like mine, ive got 3 of the worst budget tyres known to man and one firestone on the offside rear lol so handling is strange, coupled with a knackered upper track control arm on the rear it tends to either sorta 4 wheel drift alternating from nunder to over steer canceling each other out or oversteers lol, suppose thats what you get buying a car from a fleet company

ive heard good things bout them rainsports am definatly considering them when i do tyres all round when i can afford it

I put 4 uniroyal rainsport 2`s on when i got my snowies 235/40/18 and the grip is superb wet or dry, cant fault them, even blasting through deep puddles does not phase them.

    Got my 235/40/18 for £116
Not had any wear yet or any sun for that matter, but in the rain they are the best I have ever had (and I never buy budget tyres)
    215/55/16 are about £85

Rainsport 2's. Best tyres I've ever had. Last time I bought some (225/45/17) it cost me something like £90 each fitted at Merityre.

you should have put the uniroyal on the BACK,, Goodyears on the front,, best tyre ALWAYS on the back. Even if you had put goodyears on,,, new ones on the back. the 5 mil ones on the front.

I had some snow tyres fitted on the front of my Vec and the grip was horrible. They were decent ones as well (unfortunatly can't remember the make) and it was like driving round on budgets. Wheel spin quater throttling in 2nd down at 1,500rpm in the wet, disgusting. Had them changed after 2 days of having them on.
