5W30 is whats recommended by Vx. However a 5W40 that meets the GM-LL-025B standard or the Dexos 2 is ok.
This will stay thicker at high temp, reduce noise and will very slightly reduce fuel comsumption.

Renualt use 5w30 with the same engine in their cars so its ok to use.

If its not burning any or losing any i'd stick with 5w30 though.

If you continue to use GM-LL oil, then you can continue to use the Eco Flex or long service intervals (20K or 30K miles)

If you swap to 10W40 or semi-synthetic oil then you can reduce the oil and filter changes to 10K miles

Mine used 0.5L of oil in 10k, 3k where done in Germany at very high speeds so can't complain. The 5w30 is still good for my engine at 130k+

The GM oil is to spec and should be cheap. There is an alternative brand that does not have low life: http://www.millersoils-online.co.uk/...ENGINE_OIL.htm
