Default Tuning boxes are they safe? Poll

Ok a lot of people, including myself often ask if tuning boxes are safe. So to answer this I thought anyone who has one fitted could vote.

I really want the people that have had issues to confirm what if possible.

Depends on the quality of the box.

In my VAG days tuning dervs (PD130/PD150) a lot of people would open said boxes and find they were just cheap resistors that get the car to just pump in more fuel.

If they are reputable I see no issues but you will veneered with a remap, although you won't be able to sell on after 9 times out of 10.

DMF failure.............but I know it just picked out a part which was already on its way out, altho it never showed ant faults until the box had been on for 12 months -just made it happen quicker than normal.

been on for twelve months more and had no further problems.
tuning or uprating power will find flaws with your car if they are there

I had a box fitted to my last Vectra 150 cdti sri, about a year after fitting it i had to get the clutch & DMF changed.
I then sold the box to my brother for his astra 1.9 cdti (which was a flying machine with the box fitted) & he has now given me the box back as he's now sold the astra. However i dont think i'm going to fit it this time as i'm happy with the way the car runs.
