    Default Colour Coded V Grill

    Hi Guys,

Wanting to make my chrome V on my grill into a black one, anyone do this?

    Thinking either:

Getting some black vinyl wrap and doing it that way

    or painting it

yep its fairly easy to do -- there are several on here that have done this
you can either rub down and paint yours

but a primed one from VX and paint that

or as you say wrap it as a test and then if you dont like it remove the wrap and its probably only going to have cost you around a tenner for the vinyl and your time

if your going to wrap it why not try carbon fibre

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

I wanted to get mine painted black too, but the local body shop said they couldn't as the paint would flake off.

Not sure that's true tbh... so I'm still thinking of doing it.. just waiting for the right weather!

Sounds Like They Were`nt Even Gonna Prep It....Just Blow Over It..If Its Prepped Correct Paint Will Stick No Probs

You have to take all the chrome off for the paint to stick...

I painted mine a few weeks back and it looks good. Just got to rub down well and it will be fine. As for the paintshop, they are full of crap!!!!!!

Was looking to change the grille on my 02 LS, the chrome was blistering and it looked bad. I took out the grille, peeled off the chrome, slicing my fingers open in the process, and prepped it. I had messed about with photoshop to try out different effects and ended up doing the grille satin black with a deep anthracite V, looks really well with the Black Sapphire of my car. I've had no problems so far, but then again i gave it 5 coats of lacquer, lol
