Z19dt egr pipe popped again
Would anybody know why my engine keeps popping the little pipe from the exhaust to the egr valve?? It has the egr blanked at inlet and it’s had the egr mapped out. This is the second time now and I had to replace the whole flexi pipe last time as it had fractured right where the clamp secures it onto the egr valve.
many help would be great.

Get another blank and blank it at the exhaust side also. .. it's the weakest part in the exhaust and while you are driving the pressure will eventually rip it....
It's that simple. Once you've blanked the exhaust side there will be no exhaust pressure going into the pipe at all... something you could've figured out yourself if you would have thought about it.
Yes the intake needs blanking as if you don't it'll get pressure from the intake side.. so both sides need blanking off.

I had tried to do that the last time but I cannot get to the main egr outlet on the exhaust manifold. Will the full front end need to be removed to get heat shield off??

Did you replace it yourself the last time the pipe split/cracked? If the answer is yes than I don't understand why you are asking this... long story short... the blank goes in between where the pipe connects to the exhaust and the intake... that should be enough if you need to remove stuff to get to it than remove it.

i did replace the last pipe but I was hoping there was a work around so the whole front of my car didn’t have to be removed the exhaust manifold side.

Some pictures would help if the area as I don’t know if the set up is the same as a DTH, but it seems you have more experience than me in getting to it so I doubt I can add anything that could help.

I managed to blank the exhaust side with it all in place but it was extremely fiddly and I think I had to remove one or two of the water pipes.

You said you've done it before so I suggest you do it the easiest way you can... if that means removing stuff than that is the way it is.

the post your referring to isn’t by me. I have only replaced the egr pipe not the turbo side. That’s why I was asking is there any way to do it without removing half of the front end.
