swapping sat nev head units? help!

hi all im fairly new to this,
at present im looking at purchasing a GSI however one thing that is putting my off is having the head unit with the cassette player fascia

there are plenty of cars cropping up however i would much prefer one with the cd player fascia in which tend to be as common as rocking horse ****.

what i am asking is...is it possible to swap headunits for a cd player version and what does it entail and also price....or even better isit easy enough to fit a after market headunit as with the navigation i seem to believe not...could any body shed some light on this

might be wrong but i know the facelift ones are coded to the screen if u by a factory cd player will need to be new and coded by vauxhall had this problem updating from cd30 to cd30mp3

upon a little bit more research and a little less idlness in terms some of you may understand i am talking about changing from 'ccr2006' to cd30 or cd70 if that is correct and i seem to believe that the screen and audio unit will have to be changed together and be coded to the vehicle?

if u buy a second hand unit get the screen with it thats what it is coded to if u buy a second hand unit and screen its plug and play

That can be done , but very expensive , I have done the same mod and its not just screen and headunit. Its new loom , new cim , new steering wheel , new airbag , new steering controls and a tech2 sessions.

i spoke to a audio technician on satarday about changing manufacture headunits and he sayed it just the screen and unit

So, in layman's terms, you would need to convert a pre-face/half-canbus car to full canbus.......for a new headunit?

if i was to go after marker head unit, would the simple fact be i would just lose the steering wheel functions? and can anybody tell me if all GSI's have sat nav??

mine dont..... think it was an extra expense.

and you can buy a stalk adadpter to make the controls work with an aftermarket unit.
