Default It could only happen to me....

Called at the petrol station yesterday, put the nozzle into the neck as I normally do and put £30 in..... came to take the nozzel out and it wouldn't budge it was stuck solid.... ARRGHHH!!

What a complete pr1ck I looked... forecourt was full of cars (all of em looking at me swinging like an derranged monkey fighting to get the nozzel free) in the end the tanker driver that had come to fill the station came over and had a go and managed to get it out... thank f00k!!

Not sure if we have damaged the neck though getting the nozzel out.... so can somebody please take a pic of their filler neck to see what it looks like.

Here are a bad couple of pics of mine(taken on my phone)... you can just make out the shiny metal edge that I think was not there before....

ouch! - cant take a pic of mine (at dealer still) but Ive got a flap that opens when you push the filler in and closes on a spring when you pull it out - it seems to be about 100mm in from the outer rim of the filler tube. Cant see that on yours?

Don't think I have that.... can't remember seeing one anyway... perhaps thats what got hold of the nozzle and has bent it back when we tried to pull it out??

Oh dear, that doesn't look good at all m8. Here's a pic of mine.....

As you can see, mine has the metal flap that C19_CJB mentioned. I'm sure yours would have as well, I'm sure it's a standard feature. The flap minimises fuel evaporation from the tank.

It looks like the nozzle may have somehow mangled the flap bit. You probably want to try and get it sorted fairly soon. As the filler cap is of the design that allows venting, you may, over time, lose a fair bit of fuel through evaporation.

Looking at your pic again I think I can see what's happened. The flap is hinged on the bottom edge, and it looks like it has been bent back and is now stuck in the open position, with a bit of mangling having occurred in the process.

Thanks for that Duncan... looks like i'm going to need a new filler neck because i'm sure you won't be able to replace that flap.... knowing my luck it will cost me a small fortune!!
