    Default Handbrake Light / Switch

    Hey peeps,

I noticed last week my handbrake light was taking a few seconds to light up after applying the handbrake, but this morning it won't go out at all!!! I've driven for two hours with it on!

I'm guessing the switch needs a clean, does anyone know where the switch location is and how to get to it? I'm guessing it's at the back of the lever??

    Cheers

Handbrake light also is the low brake/clutch fluid warning light.

Have you checked the level is ok and not low?

First place I would be looking.

Good shout as didn't know that. Just looked and yeah it's just on the "min" mark, luckily got some dot4 at home (bought for my motorbike clutch).

All my pads are new (changed all of them last November) and looking they've still got loads of life in them, wonder why the level has dropped?

Keep a regular eye on the level. You might have a leak. Also look around the calipers and brake unions to see if there are any damp patches.

Also the clutch uses the same reservoir. I take it you've not noticed any recent clutch problems?

this is a common occurrence once the pads have worn in properly

Hey, topped it up this morning and the light is out. I've not noticed the clutch change at all, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it moves. I had a Frontera once that the first time I ever looked at the clutch reservoir i noticed it was empty!! Again didn't make a difference to the clutch feel at all once filled up!

    Cheers for the advice!
