high oil consumption

Hi all ,
I think i have a problem with my Vectra c.I put 1 liter per 1000 km.My engine is Z22SE .Can somebody help me ???

you either have a leak or its burning a lot of oil id get it checked asap

No mate thats fine, thats the tolerance given for the Z22SE. If it starts to burn more than that its the rings.

Although if you think about it thats 20 litres of oil till your next service and at Vauxhall prices thats around £130

yes quite right,,even the 1.8 , oil consumption 1 ltr /1000 km,,, which is exactly what my last vec used,,, the one I have now uses none.

My 2003 Vectra 2.2 DTi SRi with 89k on the clock uses NO oil at all between services. Not a single drop

Some engines use oil, others don't. No two engines are alike.

My previous 2.2 petrol engine in my 53 reg Elegance used approx a litre of oil every 2,000 to 2,500 miles. Engine had only done 36,000 miles when I pranged it.

My current 2.2 petrol engine in my 06 reg Elite doesn't use any oil at all. Engine has done just under 60,000 miles.

In short, my current car has nearly twice the mileage of my previous one, yet uses no oil.

Swap to 10w40 mate, but make sure you change every 10000 miles.
