Default Pot hole = cracked alloy?!

I'm just wanting some opinions if I may? I hit a pot hole (a very deep one 6.5-7mm) and there is now a 7" hairline crack on my alloy.

I'm in the midst of emailing the council trying to claim but I'm not holding my breath. I spoke to a place that said they may be able to mend it but the long and short of it is would you be happy with this? I'm slightly nervous...

Any opinions / experiences would be great...

How much are they charging you for a repair?

Definately put a claim in to the council, dont just give up now lol, take pictures and find a witness and whatnot but i really wouldn't get your hopes up about any payment lol. Worth a shot for an email though!

I'd go for it mate, it happened to my MD a month or so back and they paid out for a new rim, tyres and suspension component. You have to fill out an official form and make sure you get plenty of pics of the hole and damage to the car.

When you take a pic of the hole, put something in which they can use to scale through i.e. a mobile or something which they can judge the size of

That's what I was thinking... It's one road near where I live and it's knackered since the bad weather. Problem is that ive put standard wheels back on and two of the tyres are close and I don't wanna replace them to then buy some 19s again

To be honest I wouldn't call 7mm a pot hole! a thick white line will be that high or do you mean 7cm? even then it's nothing special round here, I hit one the other day at low speed that made the front lip on the bumper hit the road. Ba****ds.
