Default MPG What figures do you really want.?

Lots of threads on here about MPG and folks not happy with there car's mileage.

Realisticlly what mileage do you want/expect from your car & what is it petrol/diesel.

Most times it's down to poor servicing and driving habbits like driving too quick or last minute braking loaded boot etc.

Price of fuel is expensive and gone are the days when a £ fiver would get you 100 miles.

well over my last tank i got 2mpg out of my 1.9 150 which is ok tbh as the inlet manifold needs doing, the thermostat is shot, the vacuum pipes need replacing and i do drive it reasonably hard round town and although i do alot of motorway miles do sit in traffic for most of the rest

ide like to be able to get 45-50 tbh but time will tell im gonna sort the bts out and do the 2nd airbox mod

    Agree with you Bigtee....

    Posted this in another thread....

I've monitored the fuel consumption on our Facelift Club Z18XE petrol (Pre VVT) since we bought it Aug 2006...as indicated in the above link
(& others.. to do with Fuel consumption) & during this time it's varied between 29/30mpg upto 40+ mpg....depending on the type of journey & time of year...

It's what I hoped it would be...on par with the 95 reg 8 valve 1.8 Cavalier Expression we had before it...a smaller car with less power sapping toys.

I was happy with that car & definitely happy with fuel consumption & performance of this car.

    Cheers

I've a 2003 Vectra 2.2 DTi SRi. Done 6000 miles since I got it (3 months ago). I reset all the readings at purchase and it's showing an average of 40.2mpg. It did settle at 39.1 but has slowly crept up. Ideally I would be expecting 40-45mpg, so it's within what I would expect, just!

Mine's floating around 41-42 so sounds about right for our engine.

Just what I wanted to hear. The day I got it, I did a LOT of stop/start drives, which is probably why it settled low before creeping up. Still happy as it's an 8 year old motor with 89k on it, drives and sounds like new
