    Default 1.8 drivers q,,,,

are there any drivers of the 1.8 Insignia who like there cars? I ask, as I have been asked by wifes relative to get him a large ish car aprox a 1.8, he only does 5000 miles a year now and drives like a snail, he likes the look of the Insigina,, but I fail to understand how Vauxhall can make an engine worse than the previous one, his budget is £12,000, so far have found, OCTAVIA 1.4 TSI, MONDEO 20L, MAZDA 6, INSIGINA 1.8(5000 miles on a 10 plate for 11,500 quid) and a very nice AVENSIS on a 59 plate 6000 miles,11,750 quid, on paper the AVENSIS is winning as a claimed of over 43 mpg, might swing it,, so to my question,, if you had a budget of £12,000 which one would get your dosh.,, thanks ANT.

PS I have only driven the 1.8 Insigina for a few miles,,,,, not for me,, but then it aint my dosh.

I test drove a Avensis 1.8 a while back, not bad at all.
I found the Vec sri a bit more exciting, bit faster as well.
I have not driven an Insigina 1.8

trust me this bloke does no want exciting for a bloke of 62 he acts 80. I have not had a go in the new Avensis, but the 95 one I drove gets my vote for the most boring car I have ever driven, I liked the 1.4tsi skoda but again a 0-60 of 14 .2 he wants a bit of power as he goes to a static van, a few times a year and the car is loaded up.

    thanks for the reply.

Sounds like the Avensis is just the ticket for him. I rather like the Insigina styling,it grows on me more and more.

If he drives like a snail then go for the insignia as the 1.8 model wont go much faster than a snail..but having said that there are some cracking buys on these insignias at the moment..If he likes all the toys go for the elite model and he wont be disappointed..HTH
