Could be spark plugs, either stick a new one in cylinder 4 or swap it with one from another cylinder and see if the miss fire moves when the codes are read.

Couldn't get any codes out of it, he didn't really know how to use it and i didn't want to make any more problems. It just said cylinder 4 fault.

I will try swaping plugs over in the morning.

Any idea on price for a coil pack

    Thanx steevo

Defo the z18xer engine mate, had the same problem as you this week, Only it was a cylinder 2 misfire used the how2 advice on getting the fault code using the brake and accelerator pedal and ignition key. (makes your eml light flash the code)

Changed my plugs no change, I needed a coil pack £99 a local motor factors found it hard to get one. Put that on and sorted it out right away, spoke to a mechanic mate who told me these coil packs were designed to rip us off, as they commonly fail.

He works on BMW's and says most of them have individual coils that can be changed for around £10-15

Did u have to reset anything after u replaced the coil pack or did the engine light just go out?
