    Default Farewell Vectra

Well a small tear in the eye this morning as my 05 veccy went in for P/X.

Enjoyed the 1.9cdti but have spent well into 4 figures keeping it running with more costs looming.

Monday should take del of my 58 plate Sri 1.8vvti ....... Going to lose the oomph but needs must.

Keep driving down hill with a tail wind and you might still think that your in your old car. I know what you mean as I just might have to let mine go ( GULP ) due to towing a Caravan and the car sitting to low when loaded up. I have got to fit some Spring Assistors yet which I hope and pray will solve the issue but if not its a possible KIA Sorrento instead.

Nothing wrong with the VVTi, no egr, no dmf, no faulty manifolds, ok no high 40's mpg, but I know what id rather have, reliability.

Your better off mate our vx dealer loves the 1.8 not the fastest but never fails. Even local taxis use them instead of diesel now.

And you wont see alot either, I run a 2.2 DI elegance(02) since 2004. It's been a taxi all its life, it's let me down once with a bottom pulley.
It does 44.6 to 45.8 around the city, depending on the cold weather 45.6 and in the summer 45.8. It gets a service EVERY 10,000 miles and a VOSA mot every 6 months...I use around £100 every week on fuel...
My mate (taxi driver) has the 2.0 petrol on a 02 reg and he has had...new steering rack, new steering pump, ECU rebooted my main stealer's, both rear calipers new, amongst other things and he averages 31.4 around town...We both drive like grannies. He works the same shifts as me..
    Dirty Diesel all the way...
    Ive also bought a 1.9 120 2007...fingers crossed..Tosh

[QUOTE=ANDY W;1447342]Keep driving down hill with a tail wind and you might still think that your in your old car.

Dont let silly talk like this put you off your 1.8 VVT,,I did 80,000 miles in a 150 and yes it was a good car,, things you will miss,,

the A road overtake say 50 to 70 was a lot better with the 150,, in the snow,, the extra weight over the front wheels makes a difference and thats about it... talking about weight the 1.8 does seem NOT to understeer as much as the 150, the 1.8 vvt is not far off the BHP of a 150 although torque is a touch lower with the 1.8, you just have to wind the vvt up a little, there are a lot of VECs around here, and a few owners have gone from a 150 to a 1.8 vvt, most because of high repair bills,,, all say they have made the right choice, if you do less than 15,000 a year the 1.8 is a good car,,, I dont do a lot of city driving mainly town 20%, country 60%, Mway 20%, my average over 20,000 miles is 38 mpg,,

apart from M-WAY blasters(reps) I have NEVER been overtaken buy a 150, that says it all

    That's a Vec-B you're referring to I suspect.

at last i can hear people sticking up for the 1.8 vvt , if your doing 15000 miles per year or less then 1.8 is the way to go , in my opinion you need to be doing a lot of miles to warrant a diesel otherwise its not cost effective
