    Default LPG Converion

Anyone converted their Petrol Vec or Siggy?

    How much did it cost?

    Any issues so far?

I am doing 200 miles a week nowadays and although the cost is fine
at the moment, i cant see the price of petrol staying as it is so i am planning ahead.

I have just read that they can also convert diesels! is this true? i did'nt think that was possible

My mate has a 4.0l jeep with an lpg conversion and he reckons that the price of lpg now means that it's almost not worth it anymore. Yeah, alright, it's still almost half the price of petrol but the Jeep (not sure about others) uses shed loads more lpg per mile + the performance is rubbish.

Yeah i know it's cool burning stuff and the performance is rubbish but if you live on the motorway and had a duel fuel, you could have the best of both worlds.

Like you say you would need to find out how much LPG the car would use to make it worthwhile.

i think a little digging might be in order

A 4.0ltr will never be economical in the uk with prices the way they are.

However a petrol veccy say 1.8 will, It costs approx 1k for the kit which includes the tank and vaporiser (gas unit) and filter lock and pipes, if you fit this yourself it needs to be checked for safety afterwards which there is a small cost involved.

It will work out for you if your keeping the car for 2 years or more or do above 20k per year.

Yes some diesels can be converted to run lpg but not all.

Yes. There is a fuel calculator on the green fuel website.

Also how would a diesel run on LPG? How would it ignite it???

    http://www.chilterngascars.co.uk/cars/lpgdiesel.htm

We were doing this years ago on the big diesel engines in fork lifts it's nothing new.

But not all engines can take it.

So it burns them together rather than a direct replacement to ensure a better burn

Had my 1.8 converted 3 years ago. Not had a moments problem. Getting 6 miles per litre @ a cost of 69.9 PPL.So around 28 to the gallon but if you do proper sums and convert cost against Petrol means approx 55 miles to a gallon of LPG if I make any sense.???
60 litre tank gets me 330 miles on average,Conversion cost me £1,250 @ Mint LPG in Newport. But I know lots of Co out there doing it. Try Green fuel Ltd.
