From the above. (All commodore drivers do literally the same mod to the holden airbox) you'll get more induction noise. There will be little to no performance increase. (The sound is worth it though... You could put a K&N apollo intake on it for more jollies)

This video is of the 3.2 with Apollo intake and remus mufflers, although the remus mufflers reduced the sound overall compared to stock mufflers.

If there is any drop in performance or mpg, I'll put an airfeed in, but to be honest I shouldn't need any cold additional feed as I mainly do motorway miles, I could see heat sink being a problem if journeys where always short and around town but only time will tell as I don't think anyone has done this on the 1.9cdti

Plus if we have a winter again like we just have, should help keep heat in engine!

Lol it was you who gave me the idea!!

Have you had any issues with heat sink?? I am sure Ur 2.8 will run alot hotter than my humble 1.9

Lol. Thought it might have been. I've had no issue's so far and the 2.8 gets incredibley hot! All though its only been cold since i did it so maybe things may change as the temps rise.

    Yeah true!!

I can imagine there would be if it was red hot and you were drivin around town, but the cold airfeed should still keep it cool, it's not really the same as say a cone filter which takes all it's feed from the engine bay!

i read somewhere that the heat inside then engine bay has no bearing on the cars performance while in motion ! AND i noticed today that while under my bonnet insdie the battery tray was nice and cool even though i'd been out for a blat ! food for thought maybe ??

On an intercooled diesel I wouldn't really be worried about warmer air anyway. The air it sucks in is gonna be heated by the turbo anyway before it passes through the intercooler. As long as it works, stick with it! Just maybe put something thin over the hole on the airbox? Seen as that's the clean side of the filter, wouldn't want it to suck in a leaf or something from the engine bay and doing damage.
