Default Advice needed for driving abroad...

    Hi all,

I'm off to France on Sunday and would like some advice/a checklist for things I require with the car for driving over there, things like carrying a high-vis for each person, spare bulb kit, etc etc.

Does anyone have an up to date check list?

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

leave the high vis on display in the car over the back of the drivers/passengers seat .... it will prevent you unncessarily getting pulled over and them going over the car looking for faults

and anything you miss is usually sold at the duty free/ ferry port

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

take your time and remember your blind spot is now over the other shoulder (as in the passenger side)

its fine and depending where you go in france and what auto routes you use there will be tolls.

Wear the vest ALL the time.

Make sure your passengers do the same.

    Paint your headlights yellow.

If you get stopped by the police, use this helpful phrase: "deux tasse de vin, sil vous plait garcon. Vit! Vit!"

Whilst remembering to drive on the right is not generally a problem, its after you've stopped, particularly on a minor road, that it is easy to forget. Also when you're inching out on to a road it is easy to wrongly keep looking right.

I always put very small stickers on the windscreen with an arrow reminding me to drive on the right.
They are on the outer part of the drivers part of the windscreen (top, bottom, right & left) making them a deliberate minor irritation. This makes you always aware of them.

    Have a great trip,
    Dave
