Default CD70 fitment in 58 Vectra

I am thinking of buying and fitting a CD70 into my vectra and have been going through all the posts to get some info.

    To sum up .....

What do I need apart from CD70 and matched screen?

Would use eBay gps receiver ...... Where and how is placed and routed?

    Do I need any codes?

How do I get the old gear out?

Many thanks ....... Btw could I go the VX route and what would they charge?

As well as the screen and head unit, make sure you get the RGB cable as well.

It is a seperate part, and cost £70+VAT from Vauxhall.

You can use a Fakra GPS antenna that are available from eBay for about £10. This can be mounted on top of the dash, in one corner, with the cable routed behind the glove box to the head unit.

If the screen and radio are a matched pair, you will not need any codes.

I am sure someone on here will be local to you and be willing to assist. Much cheaper than going to Vx and getting the to quote you for the job....

Make sure it comes with a mapping disk!!

As for mounting the GPS antenna, i personally put it under the center speaker cover. Fits nice, out of sight and picks up the sats everytime. Cable is then routed through the back of the speaker compartment (under the dash) to the CD70.

Look at the centre of the dashboard closest to the windscreen.. you will see a small grill. Lift that out and there is a space there for a small round speaker... or location for GPS antenna!
