    Default Inlet manifold/warranty question

    Hi

I noticed the bar on my inlet manifold had snapped off which i thought great!! but its covered by the warranty so the book said and the guy i rang.....

I took it to a garage who then contacted the warranty company who have said they wont cover it as this only breaks as wear and tear is this true? isnt this a common vauxhall problem? i phoned vauxhall and the guy said without looking at it he would say it shouldnt be a wear and wear problem considering its age.im unsure where to go from here? the bill will be £750 which i dont feel i should pay considering i paid for a 3year warrranty to cover this issue

I have had the car for 6 months and its covered 79k 2006

Can anyone shed any light on this or been through this problem?

It's a common fault, and take this to them if they don't believe you:

Common fault that's where there is an updated manifold. That's the manufacturer of the manifold on your Vectra.

The warranty company hope you will give up rather than claim. Its likely the bar has been off for a long time, maybe even from when you brought the car.

So do you agree that this should be covered under the warranty as a non wear and tear item?

It has only suddenly been lacking power under 2k which is pretty dangerous pulling off in traffic...it just had its 80k service which is when i looked down there. as previous posts i suspected it could have been where they changed the glow plugs.

It will be a major crying session if i have pay for it as its booked in for a remap and egr blanking on the 7th

Yes warranty item, these should never wear. Wear and tear items are things like brake pad/disks, servicable items that type of thing.

So if the ball joint went on the steering would they say that is wear and tear? If the engine blew up, would that be wear and tear?
It seems that the warranty you have does not cover anything if they say that the manifold is wear and tear.

From working at a garage and dealing with warranty company's you will have a very had job getting them to foot the bill.

Yes its a poor design but they fail due to wear and tear.

The only warranty company we have dealt with that will replace it (And DMF's) are warranty direst and they know that its a common problem.

    Good luck though.

I've got the RAC warranty, and now,on my recent renewal, they have specified the inlet manifold and failure of ANY item due to carbonization. It would seem to me that they are becoming wary of the CDTI and it's design faults. FELIXX.

I had mine replaced under warranty. But that was Vx Network Q. The car was just over 3 years old with 45k on the clock.

Also had the EGR, wipers, thermostat, cd070 and rear screen done no quibbles!

I've rear horror stories on here about non Vx warranties, that's why I went with the Vx extended warranty.

    Hope you get them pay.
