Steel Studs and Alloy Wheels

Hey all,

Just won some 17" Elite Alloys on ebay for my LS Vec, will the standard steel studs be ok with Alloy wheels? ie They are the same studs whatever the wheels yeah?

Not to diagree with what Vectrapaul is saying but I asked the question a couple of weeks back. Apparently you can use the original ones. Someone pointed out that Vectras with Alloy wheels came with a bog standard steel space saver wheel, and its just the normal nuts that you require to use that. A quick check on www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk shows only 1 wheel stud listed, and no mention of steel or alloy specific either.
I just fitted a set of GSi alloys and used the origional nuts too, just bought some nice covers for them of ebay.

I had this same dilemma and phoned the dealer who told me there is only 1 type of wheel bolt listed for the Vectra so it will fit steel or alloy wheels. I believe if you fit aftermarket (non vauxhall) alloys then you need new bolts.

Thanks for the replies guys, the missus isn't happy I bought them (only £105 with tyres but hey that's women) so not having to buy new studs is a saving grace!

If Paul's sentence had a comma in then it would read that separate bolts are required (ie, no, new wheel nuts are needed)

What Paul said can be interpreted in two different ways.

But as already been said, one bolt fits all wheels with Vauxhall.

BTW Si did you get locking wheel nuts for them? I got a set of McGards off Demon Tweeks ebay site for £26 delivered, they were the cheapest by a long way.

You can get the irmscher ones for about 28 quid just now
