    Default EGR on 120 CDTI

Sorry I have spent about an hour searching the previous posts on this. I am looking for a pic of were the EGR is on my 120 CDTi I have found one of the 2.2dti but it doesnt look like mine.

I posted the other day mentioning I had a problem with my spanner and EML coming on. This problem has stopped now I took car in for an MOT today anyway and the guy mentioned he'd seem similar problems with vectra when using redex and suggested running the tank down and filling up again it should be ok.

However, the car is seeming bumpy now when accelerating at low revs the turbo kicks in and it flys! I have done some searching and people have suggested cleaning the boost valve and the EGR both of which I have read up on and im going to take it on. I cant find it though haha.

    help?

    Thanks Rob

It's at the back of the engine, where the large rubber hose comes up from the turbo ducting, ends. The oval metal flexi hose collar,is held onto it by two allen bolts. Then there are four main bolts holding it onto the manifold /body,together with an electrical locking connector with a yellow safety tab.Make sure you recover ALL the gaskets when you're removing it. i very much doubt that cleaning the EGR will change anything bud ! i n my experience a new EGR is the only guaranteed way of ruling it out of any running probs !

Thanks for all the help guys

It's a strange problem the engine struggled to start this morning but once it started was jumpy. I parked it up this afternoon before work it started fine but there was no considerable power til 2.5k revs then it really took off as the turbo wound up. Any ideas ???

Confusing... Once warm it doesn't seem as bad though.

sounds promising that this could be the problem then.

Im abit skint at the moment having laid out 800 quid on this car in the last 3 months its starting to sap me money up.

ill try the 'cheaper' option first then if its no good ill go down the replacing road im gonna clean the boost valve at the same time. IF the rain holds off ill have a go tomorrow.

Thank You All. Ill let you know how I get on.

Blank it completely at the oval collar and fit a 2mm aluminum gasket. That should tell you once and for all if it's the EGR.Your EML light comes on but you get a power increase down the lower end of the rev range.
Check it out,you can make your own aluminum blanking gasket or get one off ebay for £3.Then make your mind up what you want to do.FELIXX.
