Default Spanner light + more Y22DTR

    Hello there ppl,

    I have a few issues....as follows=)

1.Spanner light comes on when car is first started,go's out soon after.

2.Smoke on start up when heat rods not engaged,(same quantity as a forest fire)

3.Small like sucking sound from nr rad when car is first turned off(very faint)

    4.What gearbox code is it F?? (vec c 2.2dti ls 03 160,000m)

5.What and where are the vac pipes (pic if poss)

I read that the smoke could be leak off pipes so i replaced them aswel as the egr..or the vac pipes (is this true?)

    Cheers in advance=)

one and two as above sound like a glow plug problem. Gearbox is F35 WR.
Vacuum pipes are all the very thin plastic pipes (about 2/3mm diam.)small black rubber elbows on the ends and the rubber can perish. The vacuum pump(silver thing on the end of the cylinder head) takes its drive from the end of the camshaft so check the bigger pipe on that as well and you will find the rest of the pipes/vacuum solenoids as you follow the pipe work away from the pump. Twist the rubber elbows to check for cracking etc. The slightest vac leak on these pipes can cause running problems.

Also check the inter-cooler hoses for a splits. They may be your causing your hissing. Give them a squeeze as the small hairline cracks are hard to see.

Vacuum pipes can be replaced cheaply with silicone ones from ebay. 3 meters of 2mm ID.

I made this pic to help fellow 2.0 and 2.2dti owners find the usual suspects:

Forgot to add that your vacuum pipes may run around to the left instead of the right like mine. Vauxhall revised this early on as they found the heat from the gear box could cause the solenoids problems.
