Help no longer required a bit of trial and error and i got it back into the gearbox although it is a horrible stinking job to refit and does involve taking the gearbox apart to allow access to the selector forks aswell as removing the gearbox from the car again however it is now fixed

For future reference incase anyone else comes across this problem here is an image of the gearbox split open to allow access to the selector forks which need realigning after removing the selector rod and housing

after gear selector is refitted ( long tubular rod at bottom of picture under gears )

gearbox reassembled & sealed back up with gasket sealer

This gearbox decided to chuck a bearing out the end of the casing last night so a new gearbox has been ordered from Vauxhall and will be fitted tommorow

seems the M32 6 speed cdti gearbox is pants and prone to failure

I am also in the middle of replacing the DMF/Clutch, and have so far unbolted the selector, but can't seem to wiggle it out of the box. I was going to wait until I had removed the top g/box mounting. Should I have disconnected the cables and left the selector in place? Do you always have to re-align the forks or was this just bad luck?
