    Default EGR Valve query?

I am new to the forum so apologies if this thread is in the wrong forum?!

I have an 06 1.9cdti sri 150 Vectra, I have been recently informed by a local dealer (& diagnosic) that the EGR valve needs replacing - at a cost of £90 for the valve and 2 hours labour @ £45 per hour.

Anyone any help with getting it done cheaper? Also, I hear if you 'cap it off' the throttle response is better?

PLEASE can someone help or elaborate on any of these points?

    Thanks a lot

More like 30 mins of your own time - wouldn't expect it would take 2 hours unless the garage are incompetent!

2 hrs - bull you can do it yourself in 45mins if you aint good enough with the spanners. All you need is a 13mm socket and 10mm spanner. Rediculous imo. The part price is fine though.

If you mean blanking - then I wouldn't waste the money buying a new one.
This will put the EM light on though.

Changed mine in literally under 10 minutes - no exaggeration. Easiest job in the world. Heard they charge this amount before, and it really is taking the **** to charge two hours labour for it! Unbelievable! Only thing though - do make sure you put a new gasket in and get it on tight there should be no problem. Check for leaks just in case - I guess they make a meal of checking for leaks in the garage and that's where there come up with 2 hours.

Good how2 although when the valve is done it's on the road out. Some will claim it returns the car to normal but in time the poor sub 2000rpm performance comes back.
