    Smile Folding door mirrors

Does anyone know if I can make my door mirrors fold in electronically?

I have spoken to my local Vx dealer and they reckon it would cost thousands of pounds! 'Cos they reckon I'd need new door cards and wiring looms etc etc but I just wondered if anyone has done it and how much it'd had cost them?

New door cards!!!? There are a couple of threads going on this and it was a few hundred quid for all the parts. The uncertainty was whether once you got all the extra bits and fitted them, whether it would work as there could be different looms needed etc.

Try a search for folding mirrors and see what that comes up with. I'll see if I can find the relevant threads (two I think) that gave some good info. One member pretty much sorted it all out iirc, but he did a bit of electronic wizardry to get it all working - basically bypassed the Canbus and used a different switch - or something like that.

I'll see if I can find the threads.

    Angry Door Mirrors - Folding

It really does seem from the other threads and the replies that were posted, it is going to be something that Iam really, not going to be able to do!

Having spoken to my local Vx dealer, they did say that it wasn't something that they'd ever done and more over they'd not really heard of it being done as a complete after market job! They'd had a chat with one of their auto electricians who said that new wiring looms under the bonnet and in the doors, hence the new door cards etc being needed.

I don't have a lot of machanical or pratical skill in this area and looking through the threads Iam still not sure if any one has completed the job?

Damm shame though because I do turn my mirrors in when ever I park my car in a public car park (although I try to aviod 'em if I can)! As I lost my mirror on a car that I had a few years ago, in a car park. Another story. . .

Cant remember if I said but I have changed my interior light. I now have the map reading lights and the sunglasses holder. All purchased from lmfvauxhall.com. Brilliant service, very quick and reasonably cheap too! No I don't have any affiliation to them.

Thanks very much for your help folks.

I'm going to have another look at doing the retro-fit. I really could do with the feature for when I park the car in the garage!

Good to hear. LMF are one of our Approved Traders and have given the same service to many members - myself included.
