    Default Sri Cdti 120 kangerooing

Hi all, been trying to get to the bottom of a friends problem on his car, ive had it on op-com and all seems fine.
Its recently had a new egr valve & another sensor replaced on the manifold as to what sensor i do not know.
Now when holding throttle at constant 2.5k to 3 k stationary you can hear the engine surging, when in motion at the same revs the car will kangeroo quite badly although you can power through it.
Any ideas on what could be the issue, i have checked all boost pipes and all seem to be in good order.
There is no eml, mpg seems to be fine and power.

    Thanks all.

Just the first post, I sorted the second problem.
I'm going to look at boost sensor and egr valve at the weekend.

Hi Boz657, yes thats exactly the same problem, holding acc pedal in same place and engine revs fluctuate. Egr did not sort the problem for my friend unfortunatley & sure enough he is getting around the 38 figure for mpg (wierd) lol.
Did the split boost hose not sort your engine revving as this was my initial 1st thought?

I noticed you want diagnostic reader, 2 words m8 (op-com) best thing i ever bought for the car, use it once and its paid for itself.

Changing the boost hose sorted the EML warning, limp home mode and the mpg issue (got 55 mpg on a 250 mile run yesterday, the best I've ever had!)
Changing the boost hose also changed the symptoms with the fluctuating revs but did not cure the problem completely. Before, the revs would fluctuate over 2.8 - 3.3 K (similar range to your 2.5-3k) and would sound and feel like I was blipping the throttle. After changing the boost hose, the rev range decreased, it would only happen between 3-3.2k but as the revs fell to 3k, the engine and car would judder slightly. I plan on changing the other two to rule them out. They don't look split anywhere though.

One thing I've thought of from reading various threads on here, is that I may need to replace my leak off pipes and wondered could this cause a fueling issue and also this issue? I think this as a couple of occasions when I've parked facing uphill with a low tank of diesel (a 1/4 or lower) the car wouldn't start and I've had to pour diesel into the fuel filter to get her to start. (with my heart in my mouth praying my fuel pump doesn't go!) I always park flat or downhill now, so have basically forgot about this issue. Trying to sort the fluctuating revs has made me remember and wonder though...

I am actually quite glad to have found someone with a similar problem! I'm sure between us we'll get there. If I need one in future, I'll definately buy a code reader. It's a no brainer when the reader costs as much as paying for the codes to be read!

I've been updating my issues in another thread, if you want to have a look..

Well i will let you know what i find, going to check his throttle housing this weekend, someone did suggest to my m8 about a gasket or summat. With ref: to the leak off pipes, i know its not them as they are new and does not suffer with starting in the mornings.
I will post up what i find for ya boz if i find anything at all.

    Is that this how 2?

Isn't this just for cdti's though? I've got the 2.0 dti, I've not pulled the throttle body out yet for a clean yet but to look at it, I can't see any circuitry attached - it's controlled by a vacuum actuator I think.
Thanks for the advice though. I intend to have a good clean of the throttle body. Mine is the unit with a TPS and boost sensor attached, rather then just a boost sensor, so I wouldn't be suprised if it turned out to be a faulty TPS giving out strange readings (as the fault occurs when the throttle is held still).
