    Default Leylandii trees ... Arrrrggggggg

Ok, so about 13 years ago I was a nutter and planted 7 of these specimens in my back garden thinking they'll quickly give me a nice hedge at the top of my garden.. People warned me not to.. I thought I'll be ok, i'll keep em trimmed... 13 years later and, omfg, they're much taller than the house and Ive come to realise they're a nuisance that block out sunlight for most of the day.. They've gotta go.. DESTROY Leylandii DESTROY .. But I have no ladder, and Ive only got a junior hacksaw, lol .. So Im gonna have to pay somebody to get these beasts down.. Ive no idea what it going to cost, or, when I do get a quote if its a fair quote.. Has anybody on here any experience with having Trees chopped down?? How much do you think it will cost me ??

Your neighbours will probably have a whip round and pay for them to be cut down if you ask - lol

Couple of hundred quid Id suspect, its not the cutting down, it the disposing that expensive. Nothing wrong with leylandi's as long as they are cut back every year.

One of my neighbours did grumble about them last year, told him I'd look into getting them sorted, so I suppose I better had this year Nah, I do want them down myself too, wretched things.. Couple of Hundred quid would be just fine, Ive been worrying myself thinking I might be looking at hundred quid per tree... Going a few years back I regularly used to get "caravan dwellers" knocking my door asking if I wanted my trees trimmed, but they never come knocking now when you need 'em, lol ..

You'll be spending forever trying to get the stumps and roots out!
My neighbour would not cut theirs so I helped whilst they were on holiday. I cut through every branch and left them in situ. Within 6 mths they were brown and dead. You can get a mains powered chainsaw for about £30 thats what I used.
If you have the space burn them if not getting rid of them when they have been cut down will be a headache

A house I used to rent several years ago had these chuffing things! I just had a big band saw type thing? Like a huge junior hacksaw? Anyhow I had borrowed the saw and a set of step ladders and started one day. Three days later I had a back garden stacked high with an awful lot of potential firewood. I rang the council and they took it away. Three lorry loads at £15 a time. so £45 all in. that was 15 years ago mind.

The neighbours where so pleased I got several cases of beer and choccies etc from various people who hadn't had sunlight in their back gardens for quite sometime. After that I trimmed them once a year.

pmsl, but on a more serious note make sure you use a proper tree surgeon or someone who is registered to dispose of waste. as if it gets dumped and can be proved to be your waste it carries a hefty fine. Lots of councils now have cctv at regular dumping grounds which the pikeys use ,

    please take this on board.

was going to say something similar, there's a great beach around here which has been ruined for the last few years by regular fly tippers The waste is always chopped down trees, site clearance etc. - obviously some crooks cutting trees for people and keeping all the money for themselves instead of paying for disposal. Makes me sick

Thanks for advice everybody, Ive rung a few Tree people, waiting for call backs to organise coming out to quote.. I do like the "put em on ebay for sale" idea, might just do that anyway just for a laugh..
