    Default Door Mirror Shakes

When driving, the door mirror shakes and slightly distorts the rear view. On inspection it seems not to lock as securely as the other side mirror, it's as though the spring needs tightening up.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to sort this out?

Someones knocked your mirror, probably a pedestrian. I have the same and it seems someone took a dislike to my mirror when walking by. Still intact but wobbles at speed. Havent taken mine apart yet but I am guessing something has snapped inside (probably a plastic retaining piece). Probably going to order a second hand one and use the internals if I can

Good point - Iv'e had a quick look and it seems that a moulded spigot that the part that swivels locks into is worn, it's at the front of the base unit. I'm going to see if I can drill into it and replace with a metal stud.

Let me know how you get on please Was just thinking about this on the way to work this morning and reminded me to check on here. Whats the best way to get into the mirror? I couldn't think of the right terminology but moulded spigot sounds good to me I shall remember that one!

I had the same problem sounds like the spot on same symptoms this was after someone knocked mine and all it was,

was the glue that holds the glass to the plastic had cracked and was beginning to flake away.

so i just used a couple of terminal screw drivers to gently pry the glass away from the housing cleaned it with some solvent and re stuck with plenty of superglue 5 months on not even a tremmor the heater still works too

if i was you id try this before you drill anything because it sound so simmler

i took one of mine apart once, the spring is all one piece and cannot be tightened up. But what I did do was clean and grease it all and it stopped shaking after that and started folding in again!
