Default Are 19's a wise move?? Potholes??

    Hi all

I have a standard 07 plate Vectra SRI, and have seriously been looking at upgrading the 17" wheels with 19" snowflakes.

I do however live in a rural area where there are a few potholes, and really weanted to get an opinion on wether they would get wrecked in those sort of conditions.

I would be buying the Snowflakes brand spanking new, so would hate to invest all that cash and them to get bent in the first month.

How much tolerance do you have with those rims and potholes??

    Thanks in advance

    Ash

Its up to you, but its the equivalent of would you buy a CDTI after "all" the horror stories...

I've hit a load of hidden pot holes and never had an issue so i dont see what all the fuss is about.

There are lots of people had them crack. I found the front two on mine cracked when I bought the car. It is a risk but it can be minimised by regually checking your tyre pressures are up.

Personaly, Id stick to 18" wheels with a little more tyre depth. You dont have the worry, and more than anything it will be a lot more comfortable. Dare I say it will drive better too. 19" rims look great, but when cornering on bad surfaces they will bump and skip and just dont give the same assured footing as a larger profile tyre. How people drive on 20's is just beyond me.

19's do look great when the car is parked up,but they are not excactly luxury driving with them on,i can feel every bump with mine on
And people with 20" wheels must only do minimal mileage with their car's.

ive had 19 inch snowies on mine since october, took my ages to save up for em, i bought brand new from vauxhall...and i can say truthfully that it was the best move ever..not only does my car look fantastic in em(if i do say so myself), i have the car lowered on eibach springs to, and the handling is transformed, the ride is a little bumpier in truth, but if you do what i do and just weave around the bad potholes you will be fine, people following me will think i'm ****ed the way i weave around em but i don't care....i have no regrets and i don't think you will either.....the looks, the handling are all massively improved...go for it

I had snowies on my old Vec and was dropped 40mm too, would do it again in a heart beat, never had an issue with damaging the wheels either.

loads of pot-holes here in stoke, just try to avoid them! Snowies look the nuts, my only problem (apart from the bad pot-holes) is the constant war I wage with the wife as she like kerbs! (oh, dont forget tyre prices!) if for some reason you do not like the ride etc, sell em on I dont think you would lose much..
