    Default Warning for estate owners...

    What not to do:

Go to Travis Perkins to get skirting board, tip down rear seats, wind back front passenger seat, measure from passenger side of windscreen to drivers side of tailgate (3.3m), buy 6 lengths of 3.3m skirting, load in car (ie laid from passenger side dash to drivers side boot corner), close tailgate - fails to latch properly so open up and close a bit harder...

You'll then discover that the distance isn't 3.3m, but its about 3.29m...

    Result - cracked windscreen

Guy at Travis Perkins summed it up - "Bl**dy expensive skirting!"

Replacement being fitted Wednesday (only had the car just over two months as well!)

Luckily its just a large star type crack about 10" diameter in total and the screen is intact - still able to use car (although I'm not going far in it) and its nice that its not got any bigger! (frame must be really stiff)

Insurance will cover it, just the £60 excess to pay.

I knew I should have got one with the roof rails...

Oh mate, What a 'mare! If you're getting RAC Autoglass out, watch them like a hawk. The last time they did mine, I spent the next three days rebuilding the car myself!

******. Its them that I've got to use (insured with RAC) - thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on them!

Agree with the comments about RAC windscreens - they destroyed the wiper sensor unit on my Ren-no and left black gunk on the headlining. I will never use them again. All because they didn't know that you simply slide the unit down to remove it - some baboon just heaved it until it broke

I agree about RAC too. Took them three attempts, two screens and about 6 weeks to replace the rear screen on my Signum. All because they didn't fit a rubber seal underneath the first time as "it wasn't in the kit".
