    Default Front brakes

    hi guys, iv just bought 314mm calipers,carriers etc, just need a how 2 on changing them over on my vec 2.0t, cheers

    clamp brake hose with proper hose clamp pliers
    remove existing calipers and remove from brake line

    then caliper carrier

    then discs



    replace discs

    replace caliper carrier

    then screw new caliper onto brake line refit calipers with pad

    make sure all tight including brake hose

    rebleed brakes

    job done

    Buy new washers for the connection between the caliper and the fluid hose. New bolts for holding the carriers in place are recommended, but you can just clean the old thread lock off the existing bolts and reuse them. If your existing brakes have a little shield that covers the bottom part of the hub (like a miniature brake disk shield) then push it back a few mm away from the new disk, or it will make contact and create a sceeching sound when you drive.

    perfect thanks for that, i think il clean up the old bolts but will get new washers, im very excited about getting these brakes some point this wk, il let use know how i get on this wkend, thanks again

    The 314mm brakes are nothing short of AMAZING! My GSi came with them and I hadn't touched them for well over 3 years. I inspected them last weekend and they needed... NOTHING! Even with the 3.2-litre, they are not really 'trying!' Or maybe I don't drive the car hard enough...

    They certainly stop the car extremely effectively.
