    Default Safeguard

    Hello all,

I ahve just purchased a 56plate 1.9CDTI SRI 150. I keep getting the safeguard message coming up. I have been looking through the past receipts and it has only done 2k since August 2010.

I have diconnected the battery for 10mins and taken out the 40amp fuse in the boot for a fe minutes but the messgae keeps coming up.

    Any help greatly received.

This is just not a dig at you but everyone
It's plain to see this is a technical question regarding a problem ! It takes seconds to check forum and see there's a section for this....

Take it back to garage and get codes read, failing that it could be a sensor or power sounder in boot.

I tried putting a fuse in and disconnecting the battery overnight, came to switch it on and the safeguard message was still on. I have visually check the connectors on the rear side windows and i can't see any breakages.

I have got it booked into Vauxhall on Thursday but don't want to spend £60 for them to tell me it's a fuse.

Tried the ultrasonics, ie locked the car with the remote and then opened the door with the key and the alarm went off. Tried creating the circuit with the rear windows witha paper clip, but was still getting the safeguard message.

Took it to the local garage, the cleared out a couple of codes but were unable to go into the system as thier machine didn't have the correct chip. Felt like it was running a bit rough could that have anything to do with the garage machine or is it my imagination.

Any help boys and girls would be greatly received. Come give a bloke a leg up.

Have you checked the under bonnet switch , its just above your air box , its a plunger type switch , my old preface this gave me the problem where the mounting had broken.

The bonnet switch seems fine, that catch isn't broken and it moves up and down.
