    Default Synthetic Chamois

    Hi

I used a Synthetic Chamois for the first time today as I was given it, so I thought I would try it.

I was really impressed as I usually use leather ones. The synthetic one seems to soak up the water better than a real one, and also seemed to glide over the paint much easier too.

So I thought I would post to see what people on the site preferred to use. I think I have now been converted!

Was slow to use the MF waffle weave towels but now use nothing else. The Poorboys one is my favourite.

I used the AutoGlym Aqua-Dry (synthetic chamois) and it worked well. I heard everyone talking about the Meguirs Water Magnet so I thought I'd buy one and give it a shot.

When I first used it, wasn't impressed at all as it didn't seem to pick up the water - just seemed to smear it around. Decided to chuck it in the washing machine (even though it said on the packaging it was ready to use) and this transformed it - made it work much, much better. Use it all the time now - my AG thing is rarely used.

Synths are gr8, I used to use them yrs ago at work, found them cheaper and easier to work than a leather one, last one I bought was a Tesco one, works fine on body, smears the windows though.

Windows I hear you ask? yup windows, the synth chamois absorbs all sorts of grease and makes final polishing easier, plus if I do my windows ten mins later some punter has fingered them for me, so it's easier for me to just use a damp chammy every couple of days.

I use one of those Silicone flexi blade thingys to whisk away the bulk of the water, followed by a Vileda window cloth for the water in the awkward places. I love the Silicone flexi blade leaves no smears what so ever, shame about the cloth though, i find myself having to give the car a quick wax just to get rid of the odd smear/watermark. Oh well what are my Saturday mornings for

I've been using a genuine chamois since I had the car, and it was loveley, great big one, worked a treat. However, had some chaps in to lay a patio recently, and i'm suspisciously unable to find the bu66er now.....
