    Default Signum 1.9cdti - what's your MPG?

Just curious really - these days I seem to be averaging about 44mpg (this equates to about 490 miles between full tank and warning light). On long motorway journeys not exceeding 70mph I can get up to 49mpg - taking me to about 560 miles between fills.

I thought this was reasonable for a 1600kg car, but I've seen many people on this forum claiming to get unbelievable economy - some claiming up to 700 miles per tank on their Vectra or Signum.

I'm usually fairly sensible - I like to make good progress but rarely using full power, and plan well ahead to minimise braking where possible.

I always keep the tyres properly inflated, perform routine servicing and fix any faults that I notice straight away. As far as I can tell, the engine runs perfectly and temperature is usually about 80. Manifold and EGR are quite new so unlikely to be the problem. I took some ECU data recordings using the opcom whilst driving and examined the data on my PC - all the results look normal to me.

So how do some of you guys get such amazing fuel consumption from this engine????

490 miles when the light comes is closer to 41mpg, 12 gallons used (there's about a gallon or so of fuel left in mine when the light comes on).
Is yours an automatic? the 1.9 autos are known to be thirsty - so much so that they aren't any more economical than the 3.0cdti auto.

I regularly get 600miles to a tank (manual, 150PS) but never >700. Even seen a few claim 750+ on here - they are probably overfilling the tank past the 1st click on the pump giving very optimistic results..

Nope, its manual. I notice that you are showing the Vectra here. Is there much weight difference between the Vectra and the Signum - that would explain some of the difference?

ah right, yeah that's the vectra. but if you look at the vectra estate figures, the signum should be about the same weight and mpg.
not all cars are the same (some get better mpg for unknown reasons), but that's a bit disappointing for the fuel light to come on at 490 miles - if on a motorway trip for sure.
