    Default Disappointed with my headlights.

Like the title I don't like the way they shine, it's like it was worse than before. I have ordinary, non-xenon facelift headlamps. Maybe it's just a feeling but when I compare it with some other cars it doesnt make me think optimistic aswell. For a long time I've been thinking of fitting xenons. AFL's would be the best but as I presume there will be many problems with fixing them. My father has AFLs in his Passat and I'm delighted how they shine.

    So, I need your advices:
-what can I do to improve visibility (better bulbs, HID's, xenons)
-if I wanted to fit AFL's what requirements should I meet?
    -cost of each mod?

    Thanks in advance

I went with Duncan's mod to raise the level - set appallingly low on dip beam, then fitted uprated Xenon bulbs. May try Osram Nightbreakers next, but raising the level made a big difference.

    Thanks for help!

I like the HIDs idea, do I need to fit headlamp washers if I get them?

Regarding Nightbreakers bulbs I heard that their liveness is shorter is it true?

    AFL's conversion, anybody?

Put some HiD's in as said above. Easy to do, easy to remove if you change the car. The extra light is amazing, only fitted mine yesterday.

There are some pics in there with mine, the first pic is the Mtec sides, second is obviously both.

    Agree with Grumpy....

I've just done Duncan's mod for the dipped beam lamps on our 55 reg Facelift Club spec Vectra, which has the standard 12v 55watt Halogens fitted ....but only at position 1... and I thought it made a significant difference to spread & distance.

Duncan's was at position 2 & must be even better....

AND - today - I've just changed the Dip beam Halogens for Ring Automotive 12v 55watt Xenonmax..with even more improvement & referred to in the thread below....

The light is 'Whiter' significantly more so than the standard Halogens on Main Beam which I intend to keep as Main beam lights up the road ahead enough for me...

I've just been out to try 'em and am well satisfied so far...

See this Thread for more opinions...

I now might go the whole way on Duncan's mod at position 2.....

    Cheers
