Default Vectra V6 CDti Injector problem possibly?

    Hi,

this is now my 2nd post!

Having bought a vectra 3 days ago, i've noticed that the car shakes on idle, and up to about 1500 rpm, whether in gear or not.

It also makes a slight knock on idle, which i suspect is an injector!

Its a 54' plate with 55k on the clock. Serviced every 10k.

Is this a common problem? How much are injectors for this beast?

are they difficult to change/or need coding?

Cheers for the help so far!!

    Not really, not many reports
However, yes most likely an injector has failed

Not cheap, get parts prices from at least two VX dealerships
Equally, if you plan to have these fitted by them get at least two quotes
Normal recommendation is to replace all six injectors as a set
For fitting by a local diesel mechanic make sure they have experience of the Y30DT (if unsure, turn up and ask them to diagnose)

Five of them are relatively easy (once you get to them)
One of them is not easy (chances are this is the one that has failed)
Yes, on completion the EMS has to be reloaded with new voltages

1 injector will cost you about 600 pounds or more from a main dealer.

If it sounds anything like this on idle it will be an injector problem. I replaced all 6 and it was like new again

Injectors do not need coding on the V6CDTi, only 1.9's need that.

They are fairly easy to replace and any mechanic with at least a bit of experience will be able to do the job. Good luck I'm having mine done soon.

not sure if it may be the problem but there was something that ive known been done a couple times at my place, you dont have to program the injectors but they can be sorta synchronized which from what ive been told really helps them and makes them run as smooth as silk might be worth talking to your local dealers about

Yes, details are on TIS for full bank injector replacement
Reread voltages and enter them as new values
This only applies when you replace all three injectors on each bank or all six

Can you make a print screen of this page on TIS? I asked the Opel garage I usually use and he said they don't need to be coded...

The do NOT need to be coded
It is optional to reset the voltage readings

    Full instructions are on TIS

I do not have a copy, I read this at my local VX dealership (was discussing a separate issue)

What difference would it make if I "coded" the new injectors?

If the voltage changes, with wear and tear, then the EMS would need updating

Coding sets a single voltage that applies to all the injectors
This may present issues if only one injector is replaced
