On my travels to Riga. I took these photos of the roof tops. It was bitterly cold up there. But well worth it for the view.
Riga is a place I cam recomend if you are looking for a weekend break some where different.

Was there October before last. Great place! Nice to party too... or if you prefer spend £35 and go and fire some AK47's, Glock 19's and a Shotgun in an underground gun range lol! If your after a 'cheap' stay we booked a 5 man room in Fun Franks Hostel nr the Riga Museum
Very cheap, free beer on arrival and right in the middle of town. Think it was one bus from the airport... although you do have to get a bus ticket for your luggage aswell as you lol!
Really? Me and some buddies looking at a long weekend on the beer soon. Was Amsterdam last year, havent a clue where to go this year. Sio you recommend this too, good bars etc? Plenty of 'nice views'?
Ak's, Glocks and a shotgun - I know where I'd spend my time!
Definately, EasyJet fly out there at a decent cost. We took one suitcase literally full of booze! We had to take the iron out and our clothes and pack them in the hand luggage as we were overweight
The main problem is some RyanAir stag do's have ruined the reputation of the Brits... but if you avoid the fancy dress and keep it cool the Latvians will warm to you.
Definately stay at Fun Franks though they arrange everything for you and were very good. (Oh and the girls that work there are very nice too haha)
Thanks mate I'm now looking into it!
One word of caution... google the taxi's in Riga. I think off the top of my head its red Renaults or something? My mate got completely beaten up, mugged (including his shoes and stuffed penguin Steve... he has been to Iraq and Afghan lol) and dropped off at a Soviet High Rise estate... he got in the wrong taxi
Apparently a common tourist trap out there. Apart from that everyone is fairly friendly... although it does all seem to have a very Eastern European Corruptness about it all... but you can see where the EU money has gone Old trams and brand spanking new buses lol
