    Default lack of power

Just removed the air filter on my 19cdti Sri and yes its dirty, so went and got a new one job done. Can anybody answer this for me please. I noticed underneath the glowplugs is a silver bar with 4 ball joints on and lt looks like it sits on 4 swivel Lugs on the engine, I have refitted the bar onto the luggs ,can anybody tell me if I would lose power if this was not connected and what does it do. Thanks

Yes it will, but only in the lower rev range. Its the swirl bar, its designed to alter the way the fuel and air mix so it burns better.

For a "as new" fix your looking at a new manifold and iirc its about £400. Although there are a few on here who leave it off or fix it themselves.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

It will fall off again as the plastic wears, mine did it and it didn't make any difference to how it drove, it can cause problems with power though but I had a new inlet manifold put on anyway when I had my cambelt done, cost me £500 for all the work, that was sourcing my own parts and gettinga local garage to fit them

Can I just replace the swirl bar if its the plastic on the bar that's worn. The 4 parts on the engine where the swirl bar sits on all seem to move ok. Took it for a test.drive after.refittimg the swirl bar and got lots of port now. Question y do have to replace the manifold.
