Default Is there a doctor in the house?

    G'day all.

Tomorrow I'm making an appointment at the doctors, for months I've had a crippling pulsating pain going from my back to my stomach then back again. Lasts for about an hour and then starts to fade. It's painful to the point of being unable to move properly and gritting teeth and I have a pretty high pain threshold. I also have a problem eating, (this again has been going on a long time) where I feel hungry, so I get something to eat then as soon as I have I feel sick, sometimes throwing up. There is always an underlying tone of that sick feeling in my stomach too. I've tried to starve it out by not eating for a couple of days and drinking only water incase it was a bug but it never improved. I've also gained some weight but there hasn't been any diet changes, it's a pretty mixed diet. Homemade soup a few times a week of just veg etc. Finally the last thing is sleep. Or lack of - 4 or 5 hours a night if I'm lucky. I feel tired but I just can't get a good sleep. Tried everything including a new mattress. Sorry this is a bit of a wall of text, I last slept Friday night and was up early yesterday morning.

So, anyone got any ideas? The only thing I know of and scares me is my dads girlfriend had similar symptoms and was later diagnosed with Crohns disease - I'm a bit hesitant to go to the doctors about it and I prefer typing on here to you lot than sitting in a doctors office.

So, any doctors in the house?

    Mark

There is a far better chance of it being put to right by going to the doctors. We on here might be having an educated guess. But the doctor will be able to do far more for you than we ever will.
Make an appointment to see the doctor. It will be a lot better than the pain you are having to endure.

Sounds like you're having a grim time at the moment mate, Make that appointment and see what the doctor says, although he'll probably refer you to the hospital for tests. I'd try not to worry too much until you know what the problem is. It could be something simple.

You want my honest opinion? Don't f**k about get your self to the doctors. Quite simply that is not right the sleep maybe because you are worrying about it.

What confuses me is with all your symptoms you have gained weight? Are you really sure of that?

Tell them exactly what has been going on and you may have to have an Endoscopy which is not a pleasant experience but hell of a lot better to have 1/2hr of being uncomfortable then the possible alternatives.

    Good luck

does the pain go to your right shoulder tip?

does pain start after eating? or is in independent?

was your diet high in fat before all this started?

are your motions the same colour? or lighter ? or darker?

If it's that bad go to nearest A&E. They'll check it out and most likely tell you to go to your own doctor Monday, but if it needs urgent treatment you'll get it.

I'm going to. Yeah I am sure, it's visibly noticeable.

No it doesn't, just pulsates front to back. It happens whenver it wants, no relation to eating. It wasn't high in fat and everything seems normal, thinking about it maybe a tad lighter.

gall stones can present like this but usually get referred pain to shoulder tip.

to be honest its quite hard to diagnose abdominal problems as they can often present in similar ways.

I think if you had crohns, you'd have lost weight normally

If you go to your GP, you'll be referred to hospital anyway.

so save yourself the time and go to a&E next time the pain comes on.

that way you'll be seen by the most appropriate person, surgeon, medic
