Default V6 CDTI P2108 and P1110 fault code help

I have a 56 plate V6 Auto elite CDTI thats done 63,000 miles, its running fine but the engine emmission light is on (bottom right hand corner of the dash).

I ran the find for free fault codes diagnostic process (see: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ree+fault+code) and discovered the following fault codes

P2108 (Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Performance) and P1110 (Swirl flap positioner 1 output stage faulty).

Their is lots of stuff on the site about 1.9 CDTI's with these codes (see: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ighlight=p1110) but so far nothing for the V6 CDTI, can anyone shed some light?

    Thanks, Finnyhaggis

Has some repair work been carried out recently?
Has the exhaust been removed or replaced?
Is the light on all the time, since it first appeared, or just once?
Is the engine being placed into safe mode?

Do you have the passcard for the car?
If so, disconnect the battery for two hours and compare

What symptoms does the car exhibit?

There are two other reports of TAC on the V6 CDTI, the dealership simply cleared the faults and it never appeared again

Sadly Swirl Flap will just be wear and tear, could fail any time

Hi M8internet, thank you for responding.

    To answer your questions.

No repair work recently, only a service and battery charge after flattening.
Exhaust is the original and never touched.
The emmissions light is on permanently.
The engine is not being placed in SAFEmode.
Sorry, I don't have a passcard, nor have I disconnected the battery (will try that).

The car is exhibiting no symptons (smooth and pulling like a train).

Only recent(ish) change is the journeys I have been doing which have been limited mainly to short school and shopping trips over the period of a few months (a mile or two each way).

I have run it up and down the motorway in the hope it will clear the problem.

    Further advice most welcome?

How long can I expect the swirl valve to last?

    Thanks again m8internet, finnyhaggis

The battery was flat, recharged, yet you don't have the passcard
What did the stereo display and how did you reset it?

Before disconnecting the battery obtain a passcard
At the dealership you will need the V5 and identity (that matches the V5, driving licence is sufficient)
A new passcard costs between £10 and £20, and will be sent to you by postal method

Is the car a hatch/saloon or estate?

Once you've got the passcard and disconnected the battery for at least two hours, this should clear any stored codes, clearing the warning light
If not, then take the car to a diesel specialist with experience of the Y30DT

I question your p1110 fault code as the 3.0 doesn't have swirl flaps that i am aware of. I listed loads of generic codes ages ago and found p1110 to mean IAT Sensor (D/C) Open/Short, although I have no idea what that means! Although on the saab with the same engine they think it is a air hose related problems, which falls in with your emissions light.

So check all the air hoses for splits etc, does the car boost when the turbo is on? I have just read that it could be the turbo wastegate actuator has fallen off/become disconnected.

As above, I suspect a rogue fault code due to the battery going flat
Best solution is to disconnect the battery then compare

If the fault code remains then discussion at a VX dealership might help
They may advise what it actually refers to (see below, to locate part)

We already know the Y30DT throws up some fault codes that don't make sense or doesn't return them at all!
Presumably they are just recycling existing codes so that they can be applied to this engine

In the Opel fault code table, for the Y30DT, P1110 is listed as :
Swirl Flap jammed in open position, bank 1

Given the swirl flap is only designed to assist at slow speed, since it has locked in the open position it won't affect performance
The main issue is when it locks in the closed postion, then you would notice!
I assume when the spring ceases it is designed to lock in the open position, rather than the closed...

There are reports of this, but not many!
    Usual advice applies, replace both

Opel codes or not, I am sure the 3.0 doesn't have swirl flaps to jam.

    Hence, recommendations above

    1
    Disconnect battery, wait, compare

    2
If fault code remains, visit VX and discuss
They may be able to point to exactly what component the code actually refers to
