    In answer to your questions

Yes and yes.. but as follows

    1) Display - You can fit a widescreen display, but you would need the facelift surround.

You will need to modify the top edge of the display surround (vent housing) to make it fit the pre-facelift dash). The actual width is the same.
There are a few posts on this forum that explain this...

I have done this modification to the wife's Vectra
2006 Facelift CD70 Navi and Widescreen CID, fitted into a 2005 pre-facelift vehicle.

    2) The actual air vents are indeed the same size.

You just need to buy the screen surround for your car, I did this with my car. I bought a CD70 from a pre-face lift and just bought a second hand face lift surround and it just goes straight in this will work both ways (face lift into pre face lift) There's no need to modify the surround. You can pick up the surround for arround £25 of eBay.

Right - regardless of the other replies
This is what will and will not fit...

Only facelift CID displays are widescreen.

All CID surrounds for the pre-facelift Vectra-C and Signum are NOT Widescreen.

(I know, I wasted £43 on a pre-facelift CID surround in 2007 only to find it does not fit the facelift CID)

If you fit a Pre-facelift CID into a standard facelift surround (non-widescreen) then this will fit without modification.

There are no widescreen pre-facelift surrounds - so you have to get the facelift surround for a widescreen CID as descibed by the OP.

Like I said above - Get a facelift surround (for the widescreen CID display), and then grind the top 3mm or 1/8" off the top of the surround, to allow it to fit into the squarer aperture of the pre-facelift dash.

There are LOADS of threads about this, including some of mine... from memory, I was the first guinea pig to fit a CD70 as a retro-fit.

Others had fitted NCDC2013 / 2015, but this is a totally different subject.

What about a late pre-facelift, full canbus car? I thought they would fit?

    The difference comes between
    Facelift and Pre-Facelift.
October 2004 to September 2005 - is the Full CAN Pre-Facelift
(These are the non wide screen CID vehicles)

October 2005 (UK 55 plate - called MY 06) to September 2008 (End of Vectra production) are Facelift
    Non-CID screens are standard width.
    CID screen are widescreen

    So as said
A Pre-facelift CID (standard width) will fit into a facelift Non CID Surround
A Pre-facelift CID will fit in a standard pre-facelift surround

A Facelift Widescreen CID will only fit in a Facelift CID surround.
A Facelift Non-CID display will fit in any standard Pre-facelift or Facelift surround.

The CID I fitted to the wifes car was as follows: -

    Wife's car = March 2005 Pre-Facelift Full CANbus Vehicle
CD70 and CID = 2006 Facelift Widescreen Display and surround
Result = Top of surround required re-shaping - top edge of surround grinding flat.

Vehicles between October 2002 and Septenber 2004 are Half CANbus, and so totally different connectors, but dimensions are same as Pre-Facelift Full CANbus...

It is possible to retro-fit a CD70 and CID to a Half CANbus vehicle... but it is like the reverse of fitting an aftermarket radio to a Full CAN vehicle.
