    Default yesterdays weather

So, yesterday I spent almost 12 hours in my Vectra and drove 567 miles, from Edinburgh to Lincoln and back, in some of the loveliest weather and also some of the most horrendous weather.

When I got up at 6am, it was a mini-blizzard here. The first 60 miles was terrible. The A702 had compacted snow on it making it quite treacherous. By the time I joined the A74 south, the roads were clear again. As I went South it turned into a beautiful morning with not a cloud in the sky.

I had a 3.5 hour meeting with a customer then turned & burned back up the road. As I went further north on the A1(M) the weather deteriorated and was met with very strong winds and torrential rain. The A66 across from Scotch Corner to the M6 was perhaps the worst driving conditions I've ever driven in. VERY strong side winds and extremely heavy rain. I even had to go round a fallen tree that was blocking my lane at one point.

Given that it was so treacherous in a CAR, I have to ask, what makes truckers think its a good idea to drive an articulated lorry in that weather with nothing in the trailer weighing it down???? I passed 3 overturned lorries on my travels back up North with various amounts of Police, Amblance & Fire Brigade at each scene. One of the A66 and 2 on the M74.

I'd been watching the weather reports, son posted on Facebook he was taking a party clubbing in Birmingham, posted about the forecast, he came back (with my ex) all gobby "rain and wind never hurt a driver yet" " wind can't stop us partying"
Got quite nasty about it when I pinted out a man got killed in Stourbridge this week, down to weather. He's been driving a year and has had around ten minor prangs - 3 this week when he went to buy a £200 outfit for the party, got near missed by a bus, clipped a pedestrian, hit a wall - but he knows best, guess who he rings whe it goes wrong.......

This really is the attitude as the boss is never a driver, or never has driven, he is driven by the money. But then if he were clever enough he'd have you full as empty running is not cost effective.

So what does he say then when you're in hospital for a couple of weeks and the wind put his truck and trailer on its side on a Motorway?
