Thumbs down My car is broke !!!

Just had a call from vauxhall about my car, it was in for a suspect fuel pump leak and they have phoned me to confirm the pump is definatley broken and it needs a new one !!!

cost of pump is £750 plus vat !!

they are looking at a total of £1500 quid to replace the fuel pump and do the thermo stat too.

The chap at vauxhall is phoning the car sales place i got it from just over two weeks ago to make sure he is happy for them to progree and carry out the repairs under their warranty !!

vauxhall have also said the car cant be driven until the fuel leak is sorted as its dangerous !!!

totally fed up now, ive only had the car two weeks and its spent more time in the gargae than ive driven it !!

Maybe it's one of those cars that's part-ex'd before having to spend on repairs. There are so many posts about having to spend/repair cars that you've just bought. It's put down as a rubbish car, when the blame probably lies with the previous owner. At least you're having it done under warranty.

I really can't believe the 'ferrari' style prices for fuel pumps on what are supposedly 'family cars'.... bring back the old days where repairs cost £25 and everything was properly mechanical.

    cheers for the replies.

the dealers had to check the price twice as they couldnt believe the price was so high!!!

the ones on ebay are used.

car is an 06 with 54000 on the clock, dealer said it will be the first one they have replaced.

on the plus side the cambelt is being done as part of it too.!!

If the car is unreliable, does it make a difference whether it's owned by the previous guy or just been bought - it's still an unreliable car.

these thermostats seem to brake around 54000 miles
    mine broke at 53600 miles
as for the fuel pump sounds like the garage ran the car on empty most of the time
keep us posted hope all goes well
