Question Suspected Crank Pulley Oil Leak

I have an 04 plate Vectra 2.2 Design Auto (45k miles) which has recently developed a small oil leak marking my drive. My local small garage had a look and the mechanic says he thinks it's leaking at the crank pulley oil seal. This is something he's not able to deal with.

Can anyone advise whether this is a 'big' job or not ? Does it need a main dealer or can a 'higher-end' local dealer do it ? Any idea on a likely cost for the job ?

    Hi E
any decent garage that do engine repairs can easily fit a new seal to timing case,it requires supporting engine with mounting removed and lowering engine about 20/30mm and lifting vehicle slightly.
the seal is not expensive your main expence will be labour cost, shop around and get a couple of quotes.

Default Suspected Crank Pulley Oil Leak

Apologies, I should have been more clear, my 04 plate 2.2 Vectra C Design Auto is Petrol not Diesel.

jonnybravo : is your description of the job still valid for a 2.2 Petrol engine ?

Yes Englishman, different engine obviously but similar job.
and no peadar seal is levered out after removing pulley, engine has to be lowered slightly to gain access to seal.then new seal pressed in
