    Vehicle : 2.2 Direct

    Trim : SRI

    Engine : YH 2.2 petrol

    Year : 2006

    Mileage : 106000

    Question Vectra Sri 2.2

After testdriving a couple of 150 CDti's and reading the common faults like DMF and DPF and Swirl valves I am kind of put off them, so been out today and looked at an 06 2.2 sri which has 65k on the clock, upon asking about the timming chain was shown proof that it had been changed due to a problem with a tensioner less than a year ago.
What other faults do the 2.2 suffer from as apart from timming chains going due to lack of oil changes I have hard of little else..

More than the CDTi in my experience. They have a common fault of the high pressure fuel pump and at around £600 a fix it's not cheap - things to look out for are:
    fuel pump
    coil pack
    suspension
    wiper assembly

some common to all models however I had around £3000 of repair bills for my 2.2i over 18 months,... 26 month of a CDTi and largest repair bill has been £85 for upper front shock mount bearings.

lovely smooth ride tho - don't think it is as pokey as the 150 CDTi either, averaged 36mpg in the 2.2i against 53mpg in the CDTi

I also found thr front end more responsive and poised being a lighter petrol engine. I still prefer my CDTI tho!!!

suffered many faults with it in my 18 months
    3 fuel pumps
    2 coil packs
    suspension (shocks) all round
    banana bars replaced
    heater stop working
    wiper assembly fell apart
    heater vents snapped

as mentioned - some common faults could happy on any engine or model -

Have you looked at the 2.0T?.. consensus seems to be that this is the most reliable engine

This ties in with the thread I've just posted. Weight of Signum must dent those mpg figures, as weekly at the moment I'm averaging 29.5 in my 2.2 Direct (5 speed) and over the 3 years of ownership it is showing 32.4 as the average mpg.

Only major fault was the car dying in the first year of ownership but that was the fuel pump which was replaced under NQ warranty.

So if I take your Vectra 1.9cdti av mpg figures and knock 5mpg off I should get around 48-49mpg av from a Signum with that engine.

those were computer figures quoted - I'd get between 350 and 400 to a tank on the 2.2 and am getting 650 to 700 to a tank on the CDTi

Hm, so were mine. Car is always serviced and seems to have no noticeable faults. Think I just put the 29.5 av down to stop/start commute during week and then brisk motorway driving at weekends!
