Full Canbus - Half Canbus. Whats the difference?
Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but I just dont understand what the difference is here?
Im picking my 04 CDTi up this weekend and it has the 6 buttons on the steering wheel which I believe is half Canbus. What are the differences between that and full?
Also, can I fit a steering wheel with the thumb roller volume controls to a half Canbus car? I prefer them to the buttons.

The two types of steering wheel control aren't interchangeable on your car. Full CANbus means a larger network of electronic control units within the car.

i think the whole half canbus just refers the the stereo, diplay and related stuff like steering wheel controls because the cars both have a ful can bus system for the rest of the components as for as i know and you have to use canDi with tech 2 for all vectras

Pretty sure Kman or Robw fiited a full canbus wheel to half canbus car but you need the correct cim as well.

There's actually very little differences in half and full can Vecs as said. The CIM is a little ECU just behind the steering wheel, many systems run through it so its not a straight swap.

Ah, I see. Cheers for that guys. So basically, unless I get REALLY stuck in and change loads of things, Im stuck with my 6 button steering wheel? Not moaning too much about it, I just prefer the ones with the scroll wheels.

As a newish Signum owner I'm quite intrigued by this Canbus thing and have read up on it on net, but, how do you tell which car models are full or half Canbus, why are some full and some half and what difference does it make? Totally

Most pre-face Vecs are half can-bus, the latest ones are full. All facelifts are full can-bus.
You can tell by the controls on the steering wheel, if it has three buttons either side it's half can-bus, if it has scroll wheels it's full.
