Default 3.0 V6 CDTI - Loss of Power/Changing Engine Map

    Folks,

I'm having an issue with my 04 v6 cdti!!!

EGR replaced about 2k ago and all was fine for a couple of months until a few weeks back when the engine now seems to sporadically go onto a different map with loss of power and turbo etc.

No emissions light coming on the dash this time (as happened with the EGR fault) and no black smoke this time either, so I would doubt it is the EGR gone again.

Another symptom is that at idle, the revs are sitting around 1500 and drop to the normal 1100 when I press the brake pedal? weird eh!

As I say, this is only a sporadic problem, but becoming more frequent in recent days (but could probably disappear for a week or 2 now that I have posted this, and then once again raise its ugly head!)

Anyone any ideas what could be at fault?

I am sick and tired of these engine issues on this motor and it it very close to being traded in for a better brand!!

    I appreciate any advice!

    Cheers

    Alan

Bare in mind that your car doesn't have a Vaxhall/Opel engine - it's an Isuzu engine.

Re. the problem, does the engine get up to temperature quickly and stay there?

Sometimes my 3.0 rises the idle to 1000rpm for no reason. It only does it when it starts warming up. When cold it seems to hold the idle fine at 700rpm, but it will randomly drop to 600-650rpm for a moment and will keep doing it until it's up to temperature. No clue about this...the engine has full power and won't smoke unless I drive it slow before booting it.

    I know its an izuzu

I wouldnt say it gets up to temp quickly, no. I'd say it takes a good 10+ miles to get up to temp and at the moment the temp gauge would be on the low side of half way, maybe about 87deg

I've got one of these as well and it takes a dogs age to heat up. Having said that diesels take longer than petrol engines to come up to temparature

I would be concerned about the revs sitting at 1500rpm on idle, and I would have that looked at by a diesel specialist
However, I believe this is the default rev setting when the engine is put into safe mode

Does this happen all the time or erratic?
If it is erratic, keep a log of when it does and doesn't happen, this will then determine how often it happens
If it is happening more than 50% then it is time to get the EMS read for fault codes

i may have got my numbers wrong, but my point is that the revs drop once the brake is depressed. Any ideas why?

When idling, does it go up to about 1100 rpm and then drop to about 800 if you press the brake pedal?
Mine was exactly the same, I checked the ECU for codes before removing the keys and it showed the EGR was on it's way out.
