    Default Urgent help needed

can anyone help please? i have a 2007 vectra 2.2 auto sri direct. last week it started playing up and was very flat up to about 2500 - 3000 rpm. when i put my foot down it would seem to clear and pick up a bit but would then play up again and power would deminish again.
parked it up for a few hours then it wouldnt start at all. plenty of life in the battery (until i run it flat) but it would not fire up. had to then have it towed to local garage.
mechanic has told me that the oil was so thick that it would need to be drained and engine flushed as it had probuably clogged up everything. done this but still the same. he has done a compression test and it is showing about 50 psi in each cylinder. apparently it should be about 160.
does anyone have any ideas about what i can try next please??
sorry to post such a long thread but wanted to make sure i covered all the details.

turns out my timing chain has become slack and has jumped a few teeth throwing the timing way out. thankfully tho, nothing damaged, but still £500 to fix.

That seems a bit expensive just to sort the timing out. Are they doing anything else?

Yes the 2.2 does have a tensioner fault which is quite common. I'd try speaking to a couple of independent garages and tell them you need the timing sorting, new chain and tensioner. Explain what's happened and VX have said no damage has been done. I used to frequent a Corsa forum and a lot of people had chains done on the 1.0 engine sometimes with tensioners. Average price was about £300 but very few people used a VX garage because they were so expensive.
